History: Marijuana, a product of the Cannabis Sative plant, grew readily in the United States during the early 1900's. Attempts to regulate and tax the drug began in 1937 and eventually it was classified as a Schedule I drug by the Controlled Substance Act of 1970.

Identification: The Marijuana plant is a green leafy bush with serrated leaves. The leave are dried and then smoked in hand rolled cigarettes.

Effects: The Physical and Psychological effects of marijuana use include relaxation, euphoria, increased appetite, altered perception, impaired coordination, paranoia and an increase in heart rate.
